TOBACCO DISTRIBUTION
Sir,—"Smokeless" states he is not registered with a grocer and has difficulty in obtaining tobacco. Has he tried asking the camp caterer to obtain a quota for the camp? Grocers must sup. ply their customers first and unfortunately cannot supply all each week with one packet of tobacco. Some good customers have to take then' turn at missing a week. During October and November grocers again had their tobacco supply cut and had to supply exservicemen whose families have been good customers while hubby was buying tobacco in the desert. The fact remains that grocers or barbers cannot supply what they have not got. If "Smokeless" is in a union or R.S.A. could he not mention the fact to those bodies, who may approach the Government for an allocation. The Government controls distribution of tobacco. If "Smokeless" goes into a grocer's or barber's and asks for tobacco how does the tradesman know that "Smokeless" has not. already had his quota or may be buyingf to hoard or resell, or send to
