COST ACCOUNTANTS BRANCH
The activities of the New Zealand | Institute of Cost Accountants were ex-j tended recently by the formation of a; Wellington branch. The proposal for* the formation of the branch was inaugurated by members resident in and around Wellington, and at a meeting called by Mr. G. J. J. Feil, a high proportion of the members attended and; supported the proposal. Mr. J. R..' Middleton was appointed chairman of; the branch, and the following commit-1 tee was elected:—Messrs. G. J. J. Feil! and P. G. Harle (ex officio as Welling- j ton members of the council of the in-j stitute), A. B. Diamond, R. D. Green-1 wood, L. V. Phillips, W. G. Rodger, I and D. J. Voisey. ! It was agreed that emphasis should! be placed on helping members to secure,: a more real appreciation of the diffi-' culties confronting factory foremen j and production executives, thereby j helping members to appreciate those j factors in production which they should! feature in their cost reports to make j them of maximum benefit to those! directly concerned. j
Mrs. Isobel Andrews and Mr. O. N. Gillespie have been appointed judges of the Jessie Mackay Memorial award for poetry. Entries for the 1945 award close with the secretary of the P.E.N., Box 965, Wellington, on February 28 next.
