HOLIDAY HOME FOR CHILDREN
Mothers wondering how to arrange holiday plans this summer may be glad to know of a small holiday home for children of 5 years and over, which is to be opened at Beerehaven Road, Seatoun, by Miss Kathrine Hursthouse, M.Sc.
Miss Hursthouse has competent and enthusiastic assistants both full and part-time. She has long made a study of children's entertainment, and runs a play centre for 5 to 9 yesr-olds on Saturday afternoons. In 1934 she studied at the Institute of Education, London, and became particularly interested in child psychology after listening to Professor Hamley's lectures. Early in the war. Miss Hursthouse served in two British hospitals, as an aid in the Civil Nursing Reserve, and since returning to New Zealand in 1942 has spent some time on the staff of the Anglican Boys' Home, Lower Hutt. Her holiday plans are for picnics, bathing', and games on the fine days, and for puppet shows, painting, and different kinds of handwork for indoor hours.
