FOR AUSTRALIA

PROSPERITY AHEAD

SYDNEY, November 30. A period of great prosperity for Australia is forecast by Sir Robert Dalton, senior British Trade Commissioner in Australia. The reasons given are the big expenditure of loan funds on public works and the increased demand for consumer goods. He foresees further ventures in local manufacture on a wide scale which will make resumption of import trade more difficult. These points are made by Sir Robert in a review of post-war trade prospects for British exports to Australia, published by the Department of Overseas Trade. He emphasises that funds overseas to the credit of the Australian account are now higher than before the war At the same time, he says, there is considerable shortage of consumer goods in Australia. Pent-up needs are great, and there will therefore be a keen demand for goods. ___ — _ -^_»^«__— ..

Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia), Ltd., announces that the wireless telegraph service between Australia and Nauru, suspended during the war, is again available for public communications. Messages will be accepted at the Beam Wireless office or at any telegraph office.
