FOOD FOR BRITAIN

ALL THAT CAN BE SPARED ! New Zealand at present was sending to Britain as much food as she could spare and no other steps, apart from further increased primary production, could affect the quantity available for shipment, said the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr. Sullivan) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, replying to an urgent question by Mr. E. P. Adcrman (National, New Plymouth).

The Minister added that the question of providing a part of that food free of cost to Great Britain would be considered. That, however, would not increase the quantity o[ food provided, but would be in the nature of a free gift. Mr. Aderman had asked whether the Government would take immediate steps to enlarge the scope of Ihe scheme to provide gift foodstuffs to Britain on a Dominion-wide basis.
