VETERANS' REUNION
The members of the South African War Veterans Association held a Smoko in their rooms, Courtenay Place, -on Thursday evening. The president, Mr. J. S. Goldsmith, was in the chair.
Story and song were thoroughly enjoyed. At 9.30 p.m. the meeting stood to attention for one minute's silence to respect absent comrades. Tlie room was "black out" and the trumpeter, Ser-geant-Major King, sounded the "Last Post" and then "Reveille." Sons of veterans were welcomed horne t and sang some of their battle songs m return. Members of the 6th Contingent attended in force, and rendered their famous haka. The president welcomed Mr. Oldfield and Mr. Jackson, both returned soldiers of the 2nd World War. The following artists contributed to the entertainment:— Messrs. Robert Henry (piano), Bert Mayall (tenor solos). Norman Aitken (elocution), Will Calvert and Ross Meikle (comic duets), Sgt. Major Gettins (dialect), Major Wood (Scottish Poems), and Tom Bohlson (baritone solo.)
