POLISH WAR DEBTS
LONDON ASKS PAYMENT
DIFFERENCE OF OPINION
(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.)
LONDON, November 14. The Polish Foreign Minister, Mr. Rzymowski, disclosing the development of the talks with the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Bevin, said it was absolutely untrue to say that Britain was withholding Polish gold for the payment of the debts of the emigre Polish Government. Britain had asked for the payment of all the war expenses of Poland, but had acepted the emigre Government's civilian debts.
There were some differences on the military debts, he said. The British request meant that Poland was asked to pay for every bomb dropped on Berlin by Polish pilots co-operating with the R.A.F.
Generalissimo Stalin had made no claim for the equipment "and upkeep of the larger Polish forces raised in Russia. /
The return of the Polish army was discussed. Poland held that the army should return as a unit, but negotiations were proceeding. The British Minister to Poland had made no demarche on the question of political and Press freedom in Poland, he said!
