RESTRICTIONS LESSENED

The restrictions on the sending of gift parcels of food and clothing to people in Great Britain have been partially lifted, according to advice which has just been received. The Acting Postmaster-General (Mr. Jones) yesterday gave details of the type of parcels which may now be sent.

"Beginning immediately, parcels for ciivlians in Great Britain may now be sent up to a gross weight of 111b, with the proviso that, if food is included, the total weight of food in any one parcel must not exceed 71b, and the parcel must not contain more than 21b of any one foodstuff." said Mr. Jones, i "In other respects, the conditions re-1 main as previously: for instance, the parcels must be clearly marked 'gift'; they must not be dispatched more frequently than once a month; and they must not contain other than unsolicited bona fide gifts." The Minister added that the postage rates on parcels for the United Kingdom were 2s for a parcel not exceed-, ing 21b; 3s 4d for one not exceeding 71b; and 4s 6d for one not exceeding 111b.
