GRACEFUL DISPLAY
RHYTHMICAL GYMNASTICS
Aimed to develop muscle control, normal breathing, grace, and poise, modern methods of recreative health education were demonstrated in the Blue Triangle Hall last evening by Y.W.C.A. gymnasium members and pupils of Madame Gisa Taglicht- ~,,*, Mrs. J. S. Martin, president of the Wellington Y.W.G.A., welcomed all those present, and Madame Taglicht addressed a few explanatory remarks prior to the presentation of the display. Those taking part were Beryl Adams, Clara Odlerstein, Nancy Bayfeild, Hedle Bayne, Marguerite Boxer, Nellie Campbell, Audrey Cooper, Biddy Coltman, Florence Davies, Hilde Delmonte, Alice Hart, Elizabeth Heller, Nomi Hirschfeld, Dudleigh Horlston, Suzanne Ilott, Dale Mcßeath, and June Saint. The body-building movements of rhythmical gymnastics and the dance movements (rhythmics) were both demonstrated.
Early in the evening a 'cello solo was played by Marie Vandewart.
Handwork Demonstration. A programme arranged by Mrs. Huse was presented at a recent meeting of the Stokes Valley Women's Institute. Several demonstrations on how to make a padded handkerchief sachet, quilted bed jackets, and rib-bon-threaded pram covers were given, and Mrs. Beckford sang a bracket of songs. The best flower was exhibited by Mrs. Huse, and the month's competition was won by Mrs. Beckford, with Mrs. Burley second.
