USE OF LINERS

TRANSPORT OF BRITISH TROOPS

Rec. 12.45 p.m. LONDON, October 12. The liners Queen Elizabeth and Aquitania in future will be used for the transport of British troops, said the Minister of War Transport, Mr. A. Barnes, in. the House of Commons.

The Queen Mary was at present remaining at the disposal of the United States, which was placing at Britain's disposal a number of small vessels which would render equivalent service, he said. This was a convenient arrangement, as it would enable troops to be moved from areas where it would be wasteful or even impracticable to use the Queen Mary.
