BRITISH INDUSTRY
NEW DRIVE FOR EXPORTS
LONDON, October 1
British industries received a fresh call today to an all-out drive to win back the export market. Mr. Herbert Morrison, Lord President of the Council, said British industries would be in difficulty for a long period. There were very few stocks of such things as timber, paper, leather, jute,"and cotton yarns, and they would have to be allocated where they were most needed. Dealing with nationalisation, he said that alongside public ownership, private enterprise would have its chance, provided it was enterprising and bent i on serving the public. "We can, ancl will, organise for prosperity," he said.
