HOSPITAL ARRANGEMENTS

PA. AUCKLAND, October 1. The Netherlands hospital ship Tiitjalengka will arrive at Auckland on Wednesday with 399 released prisoners of war and internees from the China Coast. It is not yet known if any New Zealanders are on board, but the latest information is that 384 of the passengers are classified as service personnel. It is believed that a great majority are from British units, including the Navy, There are no children and only five women on board. Of the men, 95 are cot cases and 299 are walking cases. Arrangements have been made "for 40 cot cases to be sent to the Waikato Hospital, 60 patients to either the Auckland or Cornwall Park Hospital, 139 to Papakura Mobilisation Camp Hospital, and 160 to the Raventhorpe convalescent depot. The Army is handling the arrangements for their reception. Provision has been made for the issue of clothing and for financial aid. The Tjitjalengka will be boarded in the stream by the port health officer and other medical officers and will not be berthed till the patiefits have been grouped, for the various hospitals. The public, including any next-of-kin the men and women may have, will not be admitted to the wharf. This restriction has been imposed for health reasons, as complete medical examinations of the passengers will not be possible till after their admission to hospital. They will not be allowed to leave the hospital areas till the final medical examinations have been completed, and cannot be seen by the public. Special arrangements are being made for any extra recreational facilities which may be needed within their quarters.
