TROUBLE IN NAPLES
PORT WORKERS LOSE JOBS
LONDON, September 23
Hostile crowds of port workers greeted Prime Minister Parri when he visited Naples to settle a disturbance which broke out after the Allied authorities dismissed Italian dock workers and replaced them with German prisoners of war, reports Reuters Rome correspondent. The Italian Government issued a communique describing the disturbances which broke out in Naples as "small incidents without political significance," and accused former Fascists of causing the trouble.
Italian newspapers violently attacked the communique, declaring that the incidents must be considered as a sign of the growing uneasiness throughout the nation, and demanding immediate Government action if it wishes to avoid the reaction of the people.
