FATAL CAR CRASH
ONE KILLED, ONE INJURED
P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 24.. One man was killed and another seriously injured when the three-seater car in which they were travelling south along the Main South Road capsized between Rolleston and Burnham about 6.15 p.m. this afternoon. The third man in the car escaped with shock.
Robert Penman, aged 37, single, of Alfred Street, Auckland, was killed. His father is believed to be an employee of the Post and Telegraph Department, Otahuhu.
Herbert E, Hogg, Blackball, suffered head injuries.
The car was driven by Mr. Hogg, and Mr. Penman was sitting on the left side of the car. The third occupant, Mr. Jack Alexander Ralston, Church Street, Northcote, Auckland, was sitting between the other two.
All three were linesmen employed by the Post and Telegraph Department. They had been camped at Burnham, to which they were returning when the accident occurred.
