PRISONERS OF JAPS
REASSURING NEWS
LONDON, September 4. A correspondent sends reassuring news of some of the prisoners of war in Japan. In a drive from Yokohama towards Tokio he passed truck loads of them cheering and laughing. All-India radio says that parties are ready to help prisoners in Sumatra and Java. So far, the number of prisoners evacuated from the area under Admiral Mountbatten's command is given as 2792.
