ALRIGHT COMING TO HAND
(Special to "The Post.") f , " WANGANUI, September 4; The Debutant Stakes candidate Enard Bay (Phaleron Bay—Blue Purple), with her trainer, Miss Rita Jackson, in the i saddle, went four furlongs in 54sec on Saturday morning. The going was good, but there was a strong wind against the runners in the straight. All Bay sprinted three furlongs in 38£ sec, and did it nicely. The first two furlongs were run in 25sec. This Phaleron Bay filly has grown into a good type, and she has shown ability, to begin smartly and run straight. She is likely to beat more than will beat her in the Debutant Stakes. Alright has had only one gallop since resuming; and that over a short course. He sweated profusely, but the effort appears to have livened him up. The Inflation gelding is in great heart, and with a rc.ce or two is likely to attain something like winning form. The Coronach—Kriemhild filly Glamour Girl is a strong galloper, but she • will require time to become properly attuned, although she has registered very fair time in her sprints. Master Francis went six furlongs alone, registering 25sec for the first two furlongs, and completing in 1.19& the full distance. Michael put in two rounds of useful pace work. The Broiefort gelding is to run in the maiden event on Saturday • : Mr. Pym, Court Crier, and Light Fantastic were restricted to pace work. Derryogue was the only Wanganuitrained' horse to get into the money at New Plymouth, but the owners of Patta Fe collected a tidy sum as their mare was bracketed with Gayanne, winner of the second division of the Wereroa Stakes. This 'is the second occasion on which luck has come the way of the Dowdall. Bros., for the Midian mare was . bracketed with Leighon's Glory when the latter paid a big dividend at Marton. The Guineas' candidate Good Effort stumbled at the start of his heat of the Wereroa Stakes, but made up a lot of leeway to finish close to the placed horses. The son of Robin Goodfellow looks all the better for the race. Stony Broke was confidently backed for the Waihi Hack Handicap at New Plymouth, but after being slow . away and making up his ground nicely he stopped in the bad going on the bend. He is likely to do better on his home track. G. Ivil had the bad luck to lose all his, riding gear while motoring to New Plymouth on Friday. Three saddles, riding boots, lead-bag, and other gear, valued at close on £ 50, were in the bag. , Wanganui studmasters report the following foalings during August.—At the Koatanui Stud: Genesta (Thespian —Damans), a colt to Spiral; Lavish (Limond —Imprudence) and Minga (Limond—Motley), fillies to Ringmaster. Mr. G. M. Currie had the bad luck to lose a filly by Ringmaster from the Limond mare Submission, dam of Subdued and Majestic. Scarf Dance i (Limond —Veil) died shortly after foaling a filly to Ringmaster, but the foal was saved. At the Grange Stud: Merial (Chief Ruler —Melissa) has a bay filly to Neptune. Two colts by imported Felous (Solario —Coin of the Realm) are a brown from Good Conduct (Grand Knight—Civilisation); the dam of Donegal Bay, and a bay from Droll (Captain Bunsby—Drolatique). A filly by Neptune from La Plata (Lord Warden —Love of, Silver) made I her appearance at Mr. J. G. Alexander's Cranleigh Stud.
