PRICE FOR WHITE OATS :.-,
An increase in the ceiling price tt. be paid for white ' oats grown and harvested in the 1945-46. season to. 4s a bushel f.0.r.5.e., replacing the former price of 3s 8d a bushel was announced last night by the Minister of Agriculture (Mr. Roberts)1.-' ''The increase of 4d a bush is provided to cover proved increases in costs,"- said .the Minister. "It allows for increase's .since the price order- was originally1-issued. It Eflso allows for all cost increases affecting the production and harvesting of the 1945-46 crop, including the impact-of recent and pending wage increases which may enter directly or indirectly into farmers' costs relative to the oat cron. The new price provides^' a favourable incentive for the growing of white oats, and it is = considered that at this price requirements should be-met." • ■ :- -■• f <>•
