PORK STILL "OFF"
There are no indications at present as to how long the restriction on the marketing of pork in New Zealand will survive. The present order in this respect expires at the end of Octqjaer. Any. relaxation in control will depend to some extent on the demands from Great Britain. Most of her pork imports have come from the United States of America for the last few years but these have now been severely curtailed and it is likely that New Zealand will be asked to provide some of the demand thereby created. It is expected that by the end of October the Government Departments most closely concerned with the question will have some decision to announce as to the possibilities of releasing pork for local consumption.
