AUSTRALIAN CONSULGENERAL
CANBERRA. September 3. The appointment of Mr. C. V. Kellway as Consul-General for Australia in New York is announced by the Minister of External Affairs, Dr. A. J. Evatt. This is the first consular appointment to be made by the Australian Government. Dr. Evatt said it had been decided that the appointment of officers specifically charged with a wide range of consular duties was now desirable in cities where Australia had special interests. Mr. Kellway had a long career as a member of the Public Service. Since 1942 he had been Deputy Direc-tor-General of Australian War Supplies and Procurement in the United States.
