Sir, —When the new scale of age benefits commences on October 1, will 1 be allowed to earn £1 to bring the total to £5 for my wife and myself? —I am. etc., SUBSCRIBER OF YOUR PAPER—3S YEARS. [Assuming that the correspondent and his wife are each receiving £2 a week benefit, the Social Security Department states that the correspondent will be permitted to receive £1 a week earnings or other income in addition.]
