He added that the disturbances occurred in Mazanderan Province, between Teheran and the Caspian Sea, after members of the extreme Leftwing "Tudeh" Party murdered a peasant, and peasants thereupon attacked the Tudehists. Telegraphic communications are interrupted between Teheran and most parts of the Soviet-occupied northern provinces. The spokesman declared the Tudehists were deliberately provoking incidents in order to give the Russians a pretext for staying en in Persia.
