MANY CASUALTIES IN ITALY Rec. 9 a.m. ROME, September 2. An explosion on an ammunition train south of Ancona destroyed six wagons and extensively damaged adjacent property. It is believed to have caused 6000 casualties. Smoking on the train by unauthorised travellers is blamed for the accident. Pilferers touched off more than 1000 tons of German ammunition in a dump at Monfalcone, killing at least six Italians. ■ Gangs have been systematically raiding the dumps in quest of the silk in which charges are wrapped. It fetches high prices on the' black market.
