FREE CABLEGRAMS
The Government had arranged lor each New Zealand prisoner of war and civilian internee free from the Japanese by forces of the South-east Asia Command to send one free cablegram to New Zealand and a free message in reply would also be allowed, said the Acting Postmaster-General (Mr. Jones) today. Both the inward and outward messages would be limited to 28 words, including the address and signature. The Minister added that endeavours were being made to arrange for similar free cablegram facilities for New Zealand prisoners of war and civilian internees outside the area of the South-east Asia Command who were freed by United States forces.
