£30,000 FOR HOTEL
COMPENSATION AWARD
PA INVERCARGILL, August 29. The Compensation Court has awarded £30,000 to Walter Thomas William Stroud, in respect of his claim for compensation for the Cecil Hotel, formerly known as the Milford, which was taken by the Invercargill Licensing Trust under the Public Works Act. The award was a unanimous decision of the Court. -,•--, The amount of compensation claimed by Stroud was £38.000, . and in evidence which he gave during; the hearing of the case he said that the trust had made an offer of £16,115 for the property. , ~_ An order for costs was made,, the effect of which is that the trust is required to pay the claimants costs. Mr. Justice Kennedy presided at the hearing.
