U.S. SUBMARINE LOST
Rec. 9 a.m. WASHINGTON, August 26. The Navy Department announced that the submarine Bullhead is overdue and presumed lost. The United States has lost 52 submarines, 43 of which were reported overdue, presumed lost, four are known to have been sunk, two were destroyed to prevent capture, and three written off because of loss or damage.
