MACHINE-GUNNERS' REUNION
About 100 machine-gunner," of this war met at the R.S.A. social hall on Friday night for the Wellington reunion of the 27th Machine-gun Battalion. Arriving guests were greeted at the door by the unit "51" and fernleaf sign, while the hall was decorated with the battalion black triangle patches and the unit colours, blue and gold. Padre M. L. Underhill, one of the battalion's popular chaplains, presided, and Major J. S. King, the first adjutant, was the chief guest. After the usual toasts had been honoured, it was decided to form a 27th Machinegun Battalion Association, Brigadier L. M. Inglis, C.8., D.S.O. and Bar, being elected patron. After supper proceedings became informal, and battalion stories and songs were revived.
