KILLED BY FIREWORK
LONDON, August 19
After bearing a charmed life in some of the war's toughest operations, including the Normandy landing and Arnhem, Lieut.-Colonel Joubert, D.5.0., D.F.C.. of the South African Air Force, was killed on VJ night when he was hit by a home-made firework consisting of Very stars in an iron pipe. The inquest revealed that Colonel Joubert received severe head and leg injuries from which he died.
