TWO HOLIDAYS
AUSTRALIAN PLAN FOR CELEBRATIONS
SYDNEY, August 14. Special National Security Regulations have been gazetted to provide for methods of observance of the two holidays that will follow the official announcement of the end of the war in the Pacific. The regulations provide for everyone, employer and employee, to have two days' holiday without loss of pay, or, if circumstances make it necessary for people to work, for them to be paid at holiday rates. Those who stay away from work longer than the regulation two days will lose their holiday pay. The Federal Government has decided that a national thanksgiving service for the end of the war in the Pacific will be held on the second of the two holidays. The service will be held in the War Memorial at Canberra, and will be attended by the Prime Minister (Mr. Chifley), Ministers, and members of Parliament. The GovernorGeneral, the Duke of Gloucester, has been invited to attend. Special thanksgiving services will be held in all churches on Victory in the Pacific Day.
