INJURED HORSES

MISHAPS AT RICCARTON

(Special to "The Post.")

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.

Three horses—The Vulture, Manakore. and Great Divide—had to be destroyed following mishaps at Riccarton on Saturday. Two riders, A. Murray and P. Cbrboy, were injured, Murray sustaining a broken collarbone, and Corboy a broken leg. Manakore had his back so badly injured after he had been involved in an accident in the Trial Hurdles that he had to be destroyed.. He was a six-year-old by Te Monanui, and was owned by Mrs. V. G. Holloway. Test Pilot escaped failing when Lotto brought down Minority, Lord Broiefort, Manakore, and Court Dress in the Trial Hurdles, but he had to jump sideways to escape the. fallen horses, and was kicked in the ribs. He bled later, but was reported to be all right this morning. The Vulture, who fell heavily in the Sydenham Hurdles, had to be destroyed yesterday. He was very lame after the race, and later suffered hemorrhage of the brain. It was bad luck for Messrs. H. E. Martin, J. Benjes, and H. J. Gumbley, who had raced The Vulture' in partnership, as the Valkyrian gelding had shown very useful form on the fiat and over, hurdles last season, his winnings being £890.

Great Divide had a fetlock shattered when he was galloped on in the Avonhead. Hack Handicap. He was a promising four-year-old by Siegfried and was raced by Messrs. J. D. Mcßae and L. H. Tilson.

Kanui Te Pai has been stiff since his fall at the sod wall near the five furlongs in the Grand National Steeplechase. Kilmanagh jumped on his back, leaving the imprint of her shoes on him. Tenorman, who crashed at the same fence, escaped more lightly. Foxiana was still showing signs of lameness this morning, but he should be all right again by Saturday. At present a final decision regarding his programme has not been made. He is engaged in both the Lincoln Steeplechase and Grand National Hurdles.

Mynet and .Renascor both bled during the running of the Sydenham Hurdles, but they appear to be all right again. Siegwood slipped a muscle during the running of the Avonhead Handicap, and has had to be put aside.
