UNION BALANCE-SHEETS
"Members have been told that printed balance-sheets cannot be supplied 'in case they get into the hands of the National Party.'" said Mr. W. A Sheat (National, Patea) in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon, when he asked the Government to consider introducing legislation giving the right to trade unionists to have balance-sheets of their unions supplied in the same way as was required by the Companies Act He added that members of the Wellington Hotel and Restaurant Workers' Union had complained that they had not received a printed, audited balance-sheet for five years, and that members of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Workers had not received that information for 11 years.
Last week 256 towns attained their quotas of national savings. All the principal centres were successful and in each of the 19 postal districts the full district quota was reached. Although the financial year is not very far advanced, 16 places have already recorded the attainment of their full annual quotas. ■ ■.---.■■
