SYDNEY, July 7,

Shipping- activity in the port of Sydney was suspended about 9.3© on Thursday night, following reports of "enemy activity" along the coast. South Head warned shipping not to enter or leave the port. . Thousands of residents of Manly and district wishing to return from the city by ferry boats were forced to use trams and buses to reach their homes.
