BOWLING

DISABLED SERVICEMEN'S

CLUB

The excellent attendance at the first annual meeting of the Wellington Disabled Servicemen's Bowling Club, over which Mr. C. M. Turnbull presided, augurs well for the future of the club, which already has a playing membership of 42 as well as four social and five associate members, with prospects of the playing membership reaching the limit of 100. The rules, drawn up and agreed to by the provisional executive, have been adopted, and provision is made in these for preference to disabled exservicemen and a restricted membership of members of the R.S.A. At the annual meeting the president of the provisional executive (Mr. Turnbull) briefly outlined the activities leading up to the formation of the club, and expressed appreciation of the support which had been given. In recognition of their valuable services Mr. Turnbull was elected the first president of the club, and Mr. Tom Lock was made a life member. Other officers were elected as follows: —Vicepresident, Mr. F. C. Allerby; honorary secretary, Mr. W. M. F. Williams; honorary treasurer, Mr. K. S. Henry; honorary auditor, Mr. T. K. Henderson; committee, Messrs. T. W. Cameron, F. Loudon, C. A. Sadler, F. Thompson, and C. J. Webster; match committee, Messrs. E. W. Probert and F. Thompson; delegate to Wellington Bowling Centre (with which the club was affiliating), Mr. C. M. Turnbull. Mr. L. A. Patchett was appointed greenkeeper. It was reported that gifts of bowls and other equipment were still being received, and that Winstone, Ltd., had provided material for mats for use on the green. Three more kitties were required. In the matter of coaching it was the intention to commence evening tuition for members at an early date, three volunteers having offered their services as instructors and plans made for facilities to be available at the Training Centre.
