FIGHTERS FROM IWO
RAID TOKIO FIELDS . NEW YORK, June 24. Mustangs from Iwo Jima attacked the Kasumiguara and Shimodate airfields, north-east of Tokio, yesterday, and destroyed or damaged 69 aircraft, American headquarters reports. Three Mustangs were lost. 1 The flight of 1645 miles was the longest combat mission ever flown by Mustangs. At Kasumiguara they encountered barrage balloons, the first seen over Japan.
