MARSHAL STALIN RUGBY, June 24. "If Stalin came to London he would get the surprise of his life, and so perhaps would the authorities," said the Rev. W. A. The meeting, which was attended by 5000, gave an invitation to Marshal Stalin to visit Britain. Mr. OylerWaterhouse said Londoners would turn out in tens of thousands to welcome "Uncle Joe." The meeting, which marked the third anniversary of the BritishSoviet alliance, was attended by the Soviet Ambassador, Mr. T. Gusev, and Mrs. Gusev, and members of the Red Air Force and Red Army, including one woman soldier, who received a tremendous ovation. The London Philharmonic Orchestra provided the musical side of the programme. —8.0. W.
