TALK ON EDUCATION
Criticism on the educational, structure in the Dominion was voiced by Mr. T. K. Moody speaking on "What's Wrong With Education?" at the fortnightly discussion evening of the Democratic Labour Party last Monday. Mr. H. E. Herring was in the chair. Mr. Moody declared that one of the major faults was the lack of co-operation between the heads of the Education Department, the teachers, and the* parents. . He stated that parents did not seem to be encouraged to take more interest in the welfare of the schools and that school committees had little authority. Mr. Moody strongly advocated the establishment of intermediate schools in Wellington, and said he wondered if the hold-up was due to political reasons. He stated that history should be made a compulsory subject in the primary schools. Mr. Moody answered a number of questions, and was accorded a unanimous vote of appreciation.
