DOUBLE CHARTS PRINTER FINED On a charge of printing double charts a printer, Garabaldi Bitossi, was fined £15 by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, and for operating an unregistered printing press he was fined £5. He pleaded guilty to both charges. , Detective-Sergeant E. T. Compton said that last week Detective-Sergeant G E. Callaghan visited, a factory at 6. Singers Avenue operated, by the de-| fendant. A press there was in opera-j tion and double charts were being"' printed. The defendant said he knew it was an offence to print them but stated that they were "for customers." The' press at the time was not re-, gistered but had been registered since. > A bad feature, said Mr. Compton, was that the press had been bought. 17 years ago and had been'used without being registered. Mr. W. G. L. Mellish, on behalf of the defendant, said that it was through ignorance that the press had not been registered. He had registered his fac-. tory. The defendant, had served in the last war and suffered from ill health", continued Mr. Mellish. They were the ones who were generally selected to do this work, commented the Magistrate, adding that he would not take that into consideration. He then fined the defendant. ■ • .
