PALMERSTON N., This Day. ] i Hawke's Bay candidates who worked well at Awapuni yesterday morning included Rink and Blanket over a mile, Solver and Sporting Gold over seven furlongs, and Flying Ace over six. The flags were wide out on the course proper,' and although the going was fairly firm it was not improved by passing showers. Rink (A. G. Waddell) and Blanket (S. Waddell) travelled evenly over a mile. They were going kindly at the finish after running the full distance in 1.55 and the last three furlongs in 45sec. ' ■ Solver (A. From that mark he ran home in 1.29, the last three furlongs in 45 sec, and.he could have done better, j Sporting Gold (C. A. Bowry) broke 1.44 for seven furlongs, working well throughout. . Theolateral (S. Waddell) worked kindly over seven in 1.44 2-5, travelling fastest between the five and three. Swift Jay (S. Waddell) galloped seven furlongs in 1.44, travelling fast early. Abdicate (W. L. Aitken) was well clear of Fox-Brae (Miss White) and a Peach King gelding (W. Jenkins) at the end of a round over the schooling hurdles. Riding engagements at Hastings are: W. J.
