STOP PRESS ALLIED FLEET REPORTED. London.—-Tokio radio says that ,an Allied fl,eet of about.2so ships has been sighted' off southern Okinawa. DUTCH FOR PACIFIC. Melbourne. — The Netherlands Indies Government Information Service states that the Netherlands wili put 150,000 men into the war in the Pacific, as well as holding a standing army of 200,000 men in Holland. About 100,000 of the Netherlands troops to fight the Japanese will probably be trained in England. Australia will be trje base for the training of more than 20,000 infantrymen. The track was slow after three days' rain. Sixty-five thousand people saw the. race, which was worth the record stake of 64,8ii0 dollars. i Hoop Jr. led all the way. A record amount for a single race—G4T.lo4 dollars —was invested on the totalisatw at Belraont Park, New York, on the Metropolitan Handicap, of one mile, ■ which was won1 by Devil Diver for the third time. As a two-year-old last season Hoop Jr. failed to wiu any of the big stakes races in America, but was second in the Bowen Kindergarten, and filled like placings in the Aberdeen Stakes and Pimlico Nursery Stakes. Pot o' Luck, who is by Chance Play (by Fair Play) from Potheen, by Wildair, won the Champagne Stakes and Pimlico Futurity last season, but the third horse, Darby Dieppe, did not contest stakes races as a two-year-old. However, he came into prominence recently by being a surprise winner cf the Blue Grass Stakes. —"Binocular."
