FREEING OF ITALIAN WAR PRISONERS
Rec. 10.50 a.m. LONDON, June 1. The Foreign Office has" denied an official announcement in Rome that the Allies are liberating Italian prisoners of war. "
The position is that the Allied military authorities in Italy are releasing Italian prisoners who were captured in Italian territory before the conclusion of the Italian armistice. The decision does not affect Italian prisoners in Britain.
