LINCOLNS FROM AUSTRALIA Rec 9 am CANBERRA, June I. The Lincoln, the most improved version of the British four-engmed Lancaster bomber, is being _ built in Australian Government aircraft factories. Making this official announcement, the Minister of Aircraft Production Mr. W. J. O. Makin, said the Lincoln would have a greater range than the Lancaster's 3000 miles and would also have heavier armament It could carry the heaviest bomb yet PrLh?c Colns would operate in force in the Pacific, supplementing the American Super-Fortress blows, Mr. Makm SaiThe Australian production of the Lincoln was being developed concurrently with production in British tactories. At the outset Rolls-Royce Merlin engines for the Lincoln would be ! obtained from England, biu latei they ! would be made by the Commonwealth Government aircraft engine factory.
