TO AVOID INFLATION
FRENCH CABINET OBJECTIVE Rec. 12.50 p.m. LONDON. May 25. The maintenance of wages and prices at their present level in a bid at all costs to avoid inflation has been decided on by the French Cabinet, according to the Paris correspondent of the British United Press.
The Cabinet met following the outbreak of a new series of strikes, and threats oil more this week. The workers' main discontent is the disparity between the Government's fixed wages and the soaring prices on the black markets.
Insurance workers are at present striking in Paris, and a general strike is threatened in the Loire Department and another at Grenoble. Parisian employees of theatres, cinemas, and banks have also threatened to cease work.
