D.D.T. FOR AUSTRALIANS
Rec. 9 a.m. SYDNEY, May 25. The new and powerful insecticide D.D.T. is now on sale in solution form in Sydney. It has been released in its pure form to civilian contractors for extermination work to replace cyanide, the use of which has resulted in a number "of tragedies. To the general public D.D.T. is being sold dissolved in kerosene in a solution of about 1 per cent. Tests have shown that this solution is powerful enough to deal ■ with household pests. I Monacrin, a powerful, stainless antiseptic developed at Sydney University two years ago, will be .available to civilians soon. Monacrin is reported to be the best general antiseptic known. It is a better preventive of tetanus than iodine, and has been used with outstanding success in ear, nose, and throat wounds. As it does not damage tissue, vnona-, erin is sometimes preferable to penicillin.
