FIRST WOMAN ACROSS THE

RHINE

Miss Rhonda Churchill, who was the first 'woman to cross the Rhine in the wake of the Allied Forces and whose photograph appeared recently in a group with Mr. Churchill and FieldMarshal Montgomery, is first cousin of a Wellington resident, who, in a letter to "The Post," points out that Miss Churchill has strong ties with New Zealand. Miss Churchill's mother was born and lived in New Zealand, but she herself is British born. The correspondent stated that it was interesting to hear comments on the photograph, most people being under the impression that Miss Churchill was closely related to Winston Churchill and thus had it made easy for her to have the distinction of being the first British woman across the river. On the contrary, the writes states, there is no relationship, the fact of her having the same surname as the British Prime Minister being purely coincidental.
