Messrs. Vickery and Inker sell, of Wellington, communicated with the loan office and purchased the lead for five £ 1 bonds, and their cheque has been handed to the loan committee. Mr. Inkersell said he thought the boy's effort was worthy of some recognition, and requested the committee to hand the fiye £1 bonds to the boy. Mr. R. H. Nimmo, chairman of the executive of the Wellington War Loan Committee, was so impressed with the action of the boy thathe decided to double up on Mr. Inkersell's gift of five £1 bonds to the boy. The boy will,- therefore, be presented with ten £1 bonds for the lead, which was valued at 12s 6d. LOCAL EXECUTIVE MEETS. A meeting of the executive of the Wellington District War Loan Committee was held yesterday and reports were received from the following chairmen: —Mr. Petersen , (business men's committee), Mr. McLean (trading banks), Mr. Usmar (publicity), Mr. P. Butler (Trades and Labour Council), Mrs. Knox Gilmer (women's committee), Mr. B. Skilton (Communist committee), Mr. D. Molesworth (National War Savings), Mr. Norris (Chief Postmaster, on behalf of the Post and Telegraph Department). The chairman (Mr. Nimmo) stated that the wholehearted response of all sections of the community throughout the district had been a profound source of encouragement to the workers associated with the various committees. "The position of leadership that Wellington now enjoys by heading the field in New Zealand by seven clear points has demonstrated beyond all, doubt that the public is really behind the committee in its strenuous endeavours to place Wellington at the head of the 1945 Victory Loan," he said.
