BRITISH POLITICS
REAPPEARANCE OF HOSTILE . OPPOSITION (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, May 24. . The British Government today consists of one man, Winston Churchill, who is busy Cabinet-making* says the "Evening Standard's" political correspondent. Mr. Churchill has 100 posts to fill and 359 Conservatives and 24 Liberal Nationals from whom to choose. Many of the Ministers who have just left office will be promoted, and the back-benchers will have their greatest opportunity for years of entering the • charmed circle of government, says the .correspondent. Thirty newcomers will ,be needed to replace the Labourites ' and Liberals who have withdrawn. • The names of the principal new Mm•- --• isters will be submitted to his Majesty ' during the weekend. Immediately Parliament reassembles the Labour members will assume -the role of a ■ most active Opposition. Stirring .days can be expected, with a hostile Opposition operating, for the-first time in five years and the prospects of the forthcoming election campaign over- , shadowing everything.
