SHURI FORTRESS
BEING BY-PASSED
AMERICANS.PUSH FORWARD Rec. 9 a.m. NEW YORK, May 24. The United Press correspondent on Okinawa reports that the central stronghold of Shuri is being by-passed rapidly as five American divisions push forward on all sectors to crush the remaining Japanese who now number less than 30,000.
