A huge truck convoy made a 6000 miles' trek from the Iranian desert to the Kunming supply centre, travelling by sea, rail, and highway. The first leg of the journey from the desert to Calcutta was made bysea. From Calcutta the convoy was •carried by rail to. Ledo, the terminus of the Stilwell Highway. , From there it proceded under its own power over the highway to Kunming. Every vehicle arrived intact. The movement was planned long in advance, even before the Japanese were driven from north Burma, and before the Stilwell Road was opened.
