INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS
Sir,—Over 12 months ago the Minister of Education announced the extension of intermediate schools to Wellington City. The first step in -the scheme was that South Wellington School was to be immediately converted for that purpose and later Mount Cook.. In the capital city, 20 years behind other centres, this was welcome news, especially in view of the extension of the school leaving age to 15 years. Twelve months have passed and the only result of the announcement has been a fall in roll number, and constant changing of teachers. At present only two of the original staff remain. If the policy was really meant to be bait for the coming election, why the premature announcement?—l am, ' PARENT.
