APPEAL ALLOWED

RACE TO THE VULTURE The Racing Conference appeal judges sitting in Wellington yesterday unanimously allowed the appeal of Mr. H. E. Martin, part-owner of The Vulture, against the finding of the Canterbury district committee, which dismissed the appeal of the stipendiary steward, Mr. C. F. Hartland, against the decision of the judicial committee of the Canterbury Jockey Club when a charge of interference was laid by Hartland against Authentic, winner of the Addington Handicap at Riccarton on April 7. The judges heard submissions by Mr. W. E. Leicester, counsel for the appellant, Mr. D. Perry, council for the Canterbury district committee, together with further evidence called by the appellant. They found that there was interference caused by Authentic with The Vulture, afrd that it affected the result of the race. They therefore awarded the race to The Vulture and placed Authentic second. The finding added that from the evidence adduced no blame was attachable to K. Nuttall, rider of Authentic. The judges were Messrs. J. R. L. Stanford (Marton), G. D. Beaston (Dannevirke), and B. C. Rennie (Wellington).
