OPTIMISTS' CLUB

At the annual meeting of the V.M.C.A. Optimists' Club it was reported that over 40 speakers had addressed the club during the year. A high standard in interest and attendance had been maintained throughout.

The following officers were elected: —Chief Optimist, Mr. G. Ivory; Deputy Chief Optimist, Mr. G. Medhurst; Second Deputy Chief Optimist, Rev. R. W. Simpson (general secretary); Past .Chief Optimist, Mr. C. Russell; secretary, Mr. W. A. Watkinson; Sheriff, Mr. C. A. R. Brunt; padre, Rev. A. K. Fetch; musical director. Mr. H. Brooker; treasurer, Mr. H. G. Hughson; pianist, Mr. J. Duncan; committee, Messrs. J. Martin, S. O. Moore, J. H. Wood, H. A. Hutchinson, D. A. Syme. The retiring Chief Optimist, Mr. C. Russell, ■ was presented with a special Optimist Badge and thanked for his fine leadership.
